Something for Markus….
....HERE, because it can’t seem to post on Charlie (Colorado) Martins thread at Pajamas Media
Once again, the ‘moderation’ of threads at Pajamas Media seems to be ‘interesting’.
I’ve tried about six times over the previous 36 hours to post a comment or two on Charlie (Colorado) Martin’s thread about Brit Hume on Buddhism. All to no avail.
In the meantime, I’ve had no such problems posting comments on Ed Driscoll’s thread about WMD definition flexibility. Coincidence? Charlie would like to think so, but after a while that ‘explanation’ seems to wear a tad ‘thin’.
At any rate, Markus on Charlie’s thread asked an interesting question about God and Hell.
Please explain to me why any soul deserves to be damned to hell, rather than simply being extinguished or punished for a finite period of time.—Markus
I tried to answer it. Here is what I tried to tell him.....

The ‘Disappeared’ for Charlie (Colorado) Martin
Thinks that can’t be said to Charlie....
....on his thread on Pajamas Media.
Tried posting this comment to Charlie over on Pajamas Media.
Tried three times. But NOT ONE of them appeared. However, my complaints about the disappearances appeared. Gotta wonder about the ‘selectiveness’ of the ‘moderation’ and (1) just WHO is doing it and (2) WHY.
At any rate, here’s the copy that would post THERE.....

An ‘Observation’….
....on rank hypocrisy.
Some time back, I used to comment on Amy Alkon’s web-site, i.e., blog. This commenting went on for some time. Then it suddenly stopped. Why? Because she ‘killed’ me. And for what? Disagreeing with her and other commenters on her web-site.
So Amy has had a book published about ‘rude’ people and how she deals with them.
I only found out about it by visiting the blog operated by Dr. Helen Smith, who mentioned the book.
So I commented on my opinion of how Amy deals with ‘rude’ people, i.e., by ‘killing’ them. You can read the thread I See Rude People, HERE.
At any rate, Amy came back at me with a comment. And I promised her a reply to her comment to be published today.
For some ‘strange reason’, I can’t publish my reply at Dr. Helen’s blog.
So....
....I publish it here....

I Hate This S----! [That’s Stuff, Buckie]
You’d hate it to, if it happened to you.
Cripes! Now I can empathize with Christ at the crucifixion. It felt like someone suddenly drove a spike through the right foot, just at the knuckle behind the big toe. It was a birthday gift from my Dad. And now I have probably passed it on to my grandsons, should I have any, via my daughters. Sakes.....
This sort of thing was happening, mostly in the evening and WAY too early in the morning. It’s been going of since 27 January. But now it is finally subsiding.
Modern medicine shoots you full of things to deal with the pain, but, based on what I’ve seen, can’t do much else about it except advise you to stay away from beans and don’t walk around so much on it.
The AMA is going to hate me for this, but....

We’re Back
And ready to roll again.
It’s been a while since I was actively publishing things here. That was due to the necessity of supporting another major activity. Now that that is ‘over with’, by and large, I can get back to posting interesting items here once more.
More to follow, shortly.

[Jurist] Doctor Heal Thyself
Glenn ’Instapundit‘ Reynolds is concerned.
First off, he’s concerned about the Communist Chinese ratchetting up their censorship of the blogosphere, as far as they can affect it. But he seems particularly concerned that American companies, e.g., Microsoft and Google and some others, are helping them do it.
This makes ME concerned. And what am I concerned about? Well, I’m concerned that the blogfather can’t seem to do anything other than talk about his concern. If he REALLY wants to do something that will get the attention of these companies that are anti-American at heart, he’ll get himself a Macintosh and not touch Google again. But he just can’t quite seem to bring himself to do anything other than talk about the matter. It’s sort of like listening to him complain about the weather. However, in THIS venue, he actually could do something about it. Other than talk.
Glenn....
....honestly. Your whining isn’t going to do anything constructive. Move up to a superior machine. How many times has your Dell malfunctioned in the last year? My primary Mac hasn’t malfunctioned once in all that time.
Besides, you’ll feel like you’ve actually done something to help the Chinese people. Microsoft and Google aren’t going to until YOU and everyone like you gets off their duff and does something.

You Might Get a Friend In Government
It’s going to be a busy year.
And I thought life in Pueblo would be so quiet. Apparently it was too quiet for someone in this household.
Yesterday, Susan announced her candidacy for the Colorado State Legislature’s 46th Distict, in the heart of Pueblo.
It started last month at the county’s Republican Election-Year Assembly. All I did was step out of the auditorium to visit the little boys’ room. And when I came back, Susan was ascending the stairs form the podium to the applause of the assembled precinct delegates.
When I asked her what that was all about she said, “I’m running for the legislature.”
My reply was, “I just leave you alone for a few minutes and THIS is what you get us into??!?!?”
At any rate, she made her public announcement yesterday afternoon on the steps of City Hall. So the fats in the fire now.
You can follow the campaign at the weblog.

Apologies
It’s been a while....
...since I was regularly posting items of interest here. The Lord knows there’s been a slew of things to bring up for consideration of late.
I apologize for that.
I’ve got an explanation. But I can’t divulge it at this point. In another fortnight, all will be blatantly obvious.

New Feature — Polls
Having fun with opinions.
I’ve just implemented a new feature available for this blogging software, on-line, non-scientific polls.
We’ll be trying to figure out how to use these things more effectively over the next few days and offer people ways to enhance their ability to express themselves. That includes allowing co-authors to provide polls themselves.

History Lessons….
...for the educationally challenged.
Some [young] fellow at another blog seems to think that Christianity did nothing for Western civilization except got out of the way after fighting the Age of Enlightenment.
I think I’ll provide some remedial education.....

A Disappointment, Taranto
He went for the subtle and missed the obvious.
In today’s OpinionJournal.com, James Taranto comments on a speech by Howard Dean, comparing it to a Monty Python routine. It’s a cute comparison.
However, he misses the obvious target. In his speech Dean says,
...and four, the authority and the control of the ports of the United States must be retained by American companies.
He is obviously referring to the ports the U.A.E. company would manage after they buy a British company! Those ports are not now managed by American companies.
I realize Mr. Dean presented a target that was almost too easy, but really, James, you usually don’t hesitate, even if it is easy.

VodkaAngst
Sometimes, angst is not a good mixer.
Stephen ”VodkaPundit” Green is having a serious bout of angst. I think he needs some ‘help’.
Therefore, I’m going to administer some ‘tough love’ help to get him over this particular hurdle in his geo-political life.

Is Drudge Losing It?
Two days and two incidents.
Over the last couple of days Drudge Report seems to be slipping in terms of being the first to report a significant news-worthy event.
Thursday night, last, it was the abortive military coup d’etat in the Phillipines. I saw it first reported at Little Green Footballs. Followed shortly by the blogfather at InstaPundit. It wasn’t on Drudge Report until Friday morning.
Then today, the blogfather scored another coup on Drudge Report with the report of ricin toxin discovered at the University of Texas.
That’s two such instances of Drudge Report being asleep at the terminal in as many days. Is he getting tired? Is he on vacation? I don’t know.
But ya gotta hand it to the blogosphere for taking up the proverbial slack....as I don’t think we’d hear much of anything about significant news like this from the so-called major media until it was all over except for the shouting.

New Comment Policy
New [for me] technology affords new opportunities.
I’ve discovered and implemented a new means of preventing bot spammers from attaching repugnant ads in the comments section.
The new technique is to require non-registered users of the blog to enter a special, randomly-generated password in order for comment on an entry on the blog.
If you are a logged-in registered user, that requirement is waived.
Enjoy....
