Being ‘Ahead of the News Cycle’
What happens when you get ahead of a process.
Sometimes being ahead of a particular cycle can be a good thing. This is especially true in a project where, if you are behind the cycle, you are getting into serious trouble.
On the other hand, if you get too far ahead of a particular cycle, things could go very badly as well. At work, you could have finished your part of a project, only to find out that someone in a step before you has changed something in their part. This could cause you to have to do a lot more work that, had you waited, you would not have had to.
The situation we’re dealing with here is the proverbial ‘news cycle’. And the situation is the allegations of a massacre of civilians at a place called Haditha, in Iraq.
Dave Price at Dean’s World is speculating that the so-called major media and a bunch of others are getting ahead of this cycle.
Well....it wouldn’t be the first time. Look at RatherGate.
Personally, I’m waiting for more information before coming to a conclusion on what happened. After all, getting ahead of THIS cycle might find one running down the road, away from a bunch of angry Marines on Harleys....
