What was too long....

RE: Wrong Again
You win! I thought this site would be a venue for an intelligent discourse of the issues. I was wrong.—RealityChick
It IS for intelligent discourse. However, as in all such ‘Romper Room’ environments, you best be prepared to (1) stand up, (2) defend your positions, (3) take as well as you give and (4) keep a sense of humor, i.e., laugh at yourself. Everyone else is. [Note: And they laugh at me too. But I’m used to it. I’ve been abused by the Best.] Additionally, thick skin or body armor is recommended.
I no longer believe either of you are interested in discussing issues or even learning anything new.-- RealityChick
I’m very much interested in discussion of issues. Even more so in learning thinks new. I’m an ENTJ by the MBTI. I thrive on such.
But YOU have to be prepared to take as well as you give. It requires a level of personal fortitude greater than I’ve found in ‘most others’. And, at this point, you’re coming across like ‘most others’.
I think both may have chosen to live the remainder of your lives with blinders on.-- RealityChick
Hardly. If that were the true, I’d be watching the bilge being pumped out to the general public by NBC News and their ilk. Instead, last night, when the NBC talking head said, “President Bush will not be addressing the convention,” which I knew to be a bald-faced lie, thanks to the blogosphere, I snapped the television off and explained why had done that to Susan and her mother.
I suspect you’re projecting when you claim I wear blinders. I’m not the one who thinks killing babies is ‘okay’. You remind me of the people who thought blacks should be slaves because the Supreme Court of the United States approved Dredd Scott. THOSE were the people who put on ‘blinders’. The rest of US tore them off and liberated those people from slavery....at a hefty price; 600,000 dead Americans.
The same is true today, vis-a-vis Roe v. Wade.
RE: Wrong Twice More
You lash out at those who attempt to shine some light of truth into your darkened world and seem to feel particularly threatened by intelligent women. How very sad.—RealityChick
My world is hardly ‘dark’. So please try not to project your life upon others
And as for the latter item, about ‘threatened by intelligent women’......HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA......AAAAAAaaaaahhhhhh!
This is too funny.
Susan’s IQ is probably greater than mine. We met through Denver Mensa. Gotta picture of she and I and the guy who was the best man at our wedding.
It was the 1984 Denver Mensa Holiday Party at the Museum of Natural History. The theme was ‘Get Out of Your Skin and Rattle Your Bones’. She’s in a gorgeous pink cocktail dress. I’m in dress blues. Jed’s in a t-shirt with a cigar on it stating, “I was rolled in Jamaica.”
She was just passing by when the photog decided to shoot Jed and I as an interesting juxtaposition. I reached out and grabbed her and drew her between the two of us, as the photog snapped the shot. She looks like a rabbit between a tiger and a wolf; the tiger is better attired.
We knew each other for years after that, before we ‘noticed’ each other. I used the pic to announce our intentions to wed, applied a comment on the shot of the three of us saying, “We’re getting married.” Sort of Paint Your Wagon-esque.
Now, she’s the CEO/CFO of our two companies. I’m the just CIO/CTO.
RE: In Favor Ofs
If you are in favor of:
....abstinence-only sex education-- RealityChick
Well. It’s pretty obvious that the other kind, which teaches children HOW to have sex and, by ‘virtue’ of coming from an ‘adult’, gives it a ‘seal of approval’, doesn’t seem to work very well. Look at the teen pregnancy rates compared to the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
....teaching creationism in public schools-- RealityChick
I’m all for teaching all kinds theories on a level playing field. And teaching logic as well. What are YOU for? Suppression of unpopular, or rather politically incorrect, ideas?
....defending the Governor of Alaska who was in favor of earmarks before she was against them-- RealityChick
Sounds like Obama and Kerry to me.
.... and opposed to abortion even in the case of rape and incest-- RealityChick
Here, I suspect, is the REAL issue.
You don’t have to answer this, but I suspect you’ve had one. And I further suppose that you’re now having thoughts that maybe...just MAYBE...that was a very bad decision. I’ve noticed a lot of reports surfacing about these sorts of regrets. And for some people, denouncing those who would say abortion is wrong has become a way of life. Something of a facade of legitimacy to keep them from going completely over the edge.
....then why don’t you simply come out and say it?-- RealityChick
Sure thing. I think abortion is murder itself. Plain and simple. And of the most innocent of all of us. All for simple selfishness.
....Vote for Palin if you like.-- RealityChick
I may very well.
....I don’t care-- RealityChick
Actually, your comments here indicate otherwise.
....Unless you live in one of the key battleground states (see above), your vote will be somewhat insignificant-- RealityChick
I think I do live there. But you never can tell.
....Perhaps it is that feeling of impotence that enrages you? I don’t know.-- RealityChick
You sure don’t. I’m hardly ‘impotent’. Ask Susan....{nudge-nudge, wink-wink}
But I think you may be feeling such.
I am now heeding Chuckle’s and el gordo’s advice and returning to my REAL LIFE, which is most definitely NOT posting comments here or on DailyKos (what a waste of time this has been)....-- RealityChick
Don’t sell yourself or this experience ‘short’.
Did you learn something? Anything? Then it was not a total waste. Painful? Perhaps. But not wasteful.
RE: Real Life
....but is that of an experimental researcher studying the molecular genetic basis of carcinogenesis.-- RealityChick
Did you mean ‘as’? Instead of ....is....
Interesting.....
...more on that below.
I suppose one could argue that I am part of a modern day ‘Spanish Inquisition’ of the root causes of cancer and identification of new targets that may prove more suitable for therapeutic intervention using small molecule inhibitors.-- RealityChick
Keep up the good work.
Before I sign off, I will say that I am truly sorry to hear that Chuckle’s mother-in-law is suffering from stage IV squamous cell carcinoma. And I will take this opportunity (I’m not sure why – I suppose it is because I know it is the morally correct thing to do) to inform him that there are newer and slightly less toxic (i.e. less mutagenic) drugs that she MAY benefit from, but most are probably only available to her IF she is eligible for participation in a clinical trial at a major medical cancer research center. These include, among others, molecules that block angiogenesis, serine/threonine and/or tyrosine phosphorylation and histone deacetylation. (Chuckle – would you like to lash out at me again for my “nigh unfathomable” comments?) And I wish your mother-in-law the best of luck. I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you that metastatic cancer (of any kind) has a dire prognosis.-- RealityChick
Actually....
...despite the grave prognosis by the medical ‘professionals’. I think we can beat this monster. So far, we’re doing rather well.
She just came back from a visit to the doctor’s office. Unfortunately the [oncologist] doctor is on an extended vacation; won’t be back until October. Considering the nature of his specialty, I can understand the need for extended vacations.
However, the staff who saw her were rather surprised that she is putting ON weight and the lesions in her mouth from the radiation treatments are disappearing faster than expected.
If you check out my report HERE I think you might be able to grasp the reason for my optimism. See the comments.....
Furthermore, it might give you something to look into from your real life professional perspective.
Ever see Sean Connery in Medicine Man?
I think we may have found what he was looking for.....

P.S. Let’s figure out how to use it properly.
P.P.S. Hope and pray.....
P.P.P.S. If you wish to discuss the cancer treatment matter further, feel free to contact me by clicking on my name at the bottom of this item. Or just leave a comment about it.

RE: RealityChickDespite several comments up on Pajama Media’s blog-site, and responses by myself that I’ll engage this discussion HERE, where it is germane, as opposed to THERE, where it is not....
...RealityChick seems incapable of reading English.
Oh well.....
....it’s not that we didn’t expect such.

RE: Additional Thoughts on the ‘Chick’This woman has serious issues with her life. She needs to resolve them. Especially since said issues seem to interfere with her professional life, vis-a-vis looking for a cure for cancer.
Somehow, our disagreement in politics, about abortion, interfere with her answering questions about curing cancer, i.e., just because we disagree on abortion, she won’t answer simple questions asked in a thread where we did not cross [s]words in the first place.
