Outrageous!
Has the Denver Mensa LocSec flipped his lid?
The latest e-mail on the Denver Mensa listserv seems to be over the top and into the proverbial deep-end.
Of late, we’ve noticed a flurry of traffic on the listserv that indicated that all was not well in the ‘state of Denver Mensa’. This included the recent resignation of the Editor and the announcement that the RVC is planning on a little ‘visit’. However, those were mere politics compared to the message sent out by the LocSec this morning....
This morning’s missive applied a discredited technique used by Maureen Dowd last year to twist someone’s original message traffic into something truly perverse in nature. And, whereas the LocSec may have thought he was being ‘cute’, believe me, he wasn’t.
I’m tired of the misuse of the listserv to manage activities that are not it’s original intended purpose. And especially deplore it’s use for personal attacks—direct or via innuendo—on members of the group. And that is what has happened today. If the LocSec wants to launch attacks on people, let him do it in a venue where all the members of Mensa can participate. Not in one that is not intended for such. Nor in one where he can decide, arbitrarily WHO gets heard and who is ‘killed’.

I find the recent activity (i.e. the resignation of Thom Harrop) as
just another fly in the ointment at Denver Mensa. Too bad. I was
actually enjoying the new version of the Matrix. This is just another
fine example of Mario’s ability to excommunicate another member of
Denver Mensa. Outspokenness is a valuable and desirable trait in my
mind, but Mario takes it to a new level… Hell. His insulting
remarks on the listserv are only superceded by his frequent inclination
to censor or put down those who don’t share his viewpoint. He’s definitely the
Riddler, and the only question left to ask is: Who will Mario piss off
next? As the interest in Denver Mensa dwindles among it’s membership,
many are forced to ask themselves whether there is a viable alternative
to Denver Mensa that might actually validate the reasons they joined
in the first place, to enjoy discussion and banter with others with

Howdy Folks,
In protest of the fact that a decision was made to host the 2008 Mensa Annual
Gathering in Denver, without the knowledge or consent of ANY Denver ExComm Officer,
effective immediately, I resign as Local Secretary of Denver Mensa.

My Commentary: This is just the type of immature behavior that I and many others would have expected from Mario. His immaturity and dictatorial attitude doesn’t allow him the ability to assume that some decisions are made over his head or without his input.
Instead of being excited and encouraged that the AG will be in Denver in 2008, he takes it as a personal affront that he was not included in the decision. GROW UP MARIO!on 07/16 at 11:18 AM -
