Guns in the Parks
Should people be allowed to carry firearms into National Parks and Wilderness Areas for self-defense?
The upshot is this organization is opposed to the idea.
I, on the other hand, think it’s a great idea. Why? Because in 1987 I went camping with my wife and daughter at Rocky Mountain National Park. Before going to the designated camp-ground to settle in, I asked the Park Ranger if there were any bears around. I was told, “No.” They LIED!
About midnight I awoke to the sound of heavy snuffling immediately outside of the tent.
Of late, I’ve noticed numerous reports in the media about bears coming through tent walls and attacking the people sleeping therein.
Those with guns were able to defend themselves. Those without....well...a number of them are dead.
I’m suddenly reminded of that line from Tremors, “This place is a mile-long smorgasbord. And we’re the entreés.”
Not to mention the two-legged varieties of ‘predators’.
So I gave my two-cents.
My only question is how do I verify they forwarded my contribution in an honest manner, if at all. Or did they put THEIR verbiage in under my ‘signature’?
