Outrageous!

Has the Denver Mensa LocSec flipped his lid?

The latest e-mail on the Denver Mensa listserv seems to be over the top and into the proverbial deep-end.

Of late, we’ve noticed a flurry of traffic on the listserv that indicated that all was not well in the ‘state of Denver Mensa’. This included the recent resignation of the Editor and the announcement that the RVC is planning on a little ‘visit’. However, those were mere politics compared to the message sent out by the LocSec this morning....

This morning’s missive applied a discredited technique used by Maureen Dowd last year to twist someone’s original message traffic into something truly perverse in nature. And, whereas the LocSec may have thought he was being ‘cute’, believe me, he wasn’t.

I’m tired of the misuse of the listserv to manage activities that are not it’s original intended purpose. And especially deplore it’s use for personal attacks—direct or via innuendo—on members of the group. And that is what has happened today. If the LocSec wants to launch attacks on people, let him do it in a venue where all the members of Mensa can participate. Not in one that is not intended for such. Nor in one where he can decide, arbitrarily WHO gets heard and who is ‘killed’.
