Problems in the Blogosphere

The proverbial Crushing of Dissent continues.

There’s an item up at ‘Armed and Dangerous’ that caught my attention. You can read it here.

I replied to it. But the blog operator deemed it ‘inappropriate’ and deleted it.

When I protested, he deleted those protests as well.

In my opinion, this is nothing more than the usual, “We’ll let the people see what we want them to see.”

Well....

...here is my initial response to this character.....

TO: Armed and Dangerous, et al.
RE: Interesting But Slanted

You cite a lot of interesting items, but you (1) did not provide much in the way of attribution and (2) gave only on perspective.

In response to your comments I determined to be Thomas Jefferson, I offer these….WITH attribution….

The liberty enjoyed by the people of these States of worshipping Almighty God, agreeably to their consciences, is not only among the choicest of their blessings, but also of their rights. — George Washington

What do you think George meant by “Almighty God”?

It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible. — George Washington

Where does George’s idea that the Bible is important to good governance come from?

Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair; the rest is in the hands of God. — George Washington

Why is God supposed to take up the slack?

Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear. — Thomas Jefferson

Why is it you truncated the citation from Thomas Jefferson?

I have sworn upon the alter of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man. — Thomas Jefferson

Why would Thomas Jefferson ‘swear’ upon an ‘alter of God’ if he didn’t believe in God?

I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever. — Thomas Jefferson

Why should Thomas Jefferson fear for this country that God might be ‘just’ and not be ignorant of what the people do?

The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time. — Thomas Jefferson

How is it that Thomas Jefferson believes that God gave him ANYTHING?

God helps them that help themselves. — Benjamin Franklin

Franklin apparently believes in God. Why is that?

Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. — Benjamin Franklin

I won’t argue with that. How about you?

Rebellion against tyrants is obedience to God. — Benjamin Franklin

Why should an atheist obey God?

Admittedly, this is just a quick search of my archives on these fine gentlemen. I’m certain that I could find more, with more research.

So, I propose that your premise is false and your data is biased.

Regards,

Chuck(le)
[Figures don’t lie, but liars figure.]

I’ll leave it up to you to decide if it was so offensive as to warrant deletion.

UPDATE Lousy Communication Skills [171544 Jul 08]: Seems that ‘esr’ is the operator in question. And he/she/it claims to have sent me an e-mail regarding this kerfuffle. However, as of this time, no such e-mail has been received. The question becomes, are they a liar as well as a ‘crusher’?

And, before I forget, I’ve captured the thread’s entire contents every time I posted something there as PDF files as proof of my claim of deletions. You can see them shortly after I posted the items. But you can’t see them after a while....
