Of Hell, Satan and Politics

Another discussion up on PJM gone awry.

It seems that someone else on a discussion of politics and Judaism doesn’t grasp a christian perspective on all of this. Therefore, in order to carry on a discrete side-line discussion from THERE, I offer this opportunity.

Another PJM Discussion….

....gone awry.

Here is another discussion that went somewhat astray when someone by the handle of neoneo dropped in to start spewing some interesting dis-information.

He was challenged and gave the wrong answer.

Anyone who wants to discuss the nature of his malfunction is welcome to add a comment here.

Talking Prophecy — 080810

A gauntlet has been cast down.

Over at Megan McArdel’s site at the Atlantic, there’s been considerable discussion about ‘prophecy’, vis-a-vis Obama and his possibly being Anti-Christ.

The discussion has digressed to a point that it needs a different venue. I’m happy to provide such.....

Reply to Jules141

An extended reply to a commenter over at Roger Rules.

Over at the Pajama Media site of Roger Kimball, there’s been a discussion on whether or not Britain can survive its self-inflicted multiculturalism.

On comment made by Jules141 required a lengthy off-topic response. So instead of taking up Roger’s bandwidth, I decided to post the reply here....

Problems in the Blogosphere

The proverbial Crushing of Dissent continues.

There’s an item up at ‘Armed and Dangerous’ that caught my attention. You can read it here.

I replied to it. But the blog operator deemed it ‘inappropriate’ and deleted it.

When I protested, he deleted those protests as well.

In my opinion, this is nothing more than the usual, “We’ll let the people see what we want them to see.”

Well....

...here is my initial response to this character.....

Guns in the Parks

Should people be allowed to carry firearms into National Parks and Wilderness Areas for self-defense?

There’s an interesting request for letters to the federal government regarding the personal carry of sidearms, i.e,. pistols, into National Parks and Wilderness Areas.

The upshot is this organization is opposed to the idea.

I, on the other hand, think it’s a great idea. Why? Because in 1987 I went camping with my wife and daughter at Rocky Mountain National Park. Before going to the designated camp-ground to settle in, I asked the Park Ranger if there were any bears around. I was told, “No.” They LIED!

About midnight I awoke to the sound of heavy snuffling immediately outside of the tent.

Of late, I’ve noticed numerous reports in the media about bears coming through tent walls and attacking the people sleeping therein.

Those with guns were able to defend themselves. Those without....well...a number of them are dead.

I’m suddenly reminded of that line from Tremors, “This place is a mile-long smorgasbord.  And we’re the entreés.”

Not to mention the two-legged varieties of ‘predators’.

So I gave my two-cents.

My only question is how do I verify they forwarded my contribution in an honest manner, if at all. Or did they put THEIR verbiage in under my ‘signature’?

Saving the Males

A Digression.

There’s been a discussion over on Pajama Media about Saving the Males from the New York Times. It has digressed to another discussion regarding faith in God.

As it was getting (1) too off-topic and (2) of considerable interest to some people there, I decided to move that particular discussion to this venue....

One Would Think — 1

What’s REALLY ‘crazy’ here?

Seems to me that a professor of Law at a major university would know about such things as Building Codes and City Ordinances. But apparently academia is more out of touch than I would have thought.

Case in point.....Professor Reynolds, a.k.a., Instapundit, seems to think America is ‘crazy’ if people get upset when someone builds an ediface on public land without prior permission from the bodies that govern that land for the public. But nevertheless Glenn Reynolds says

Jeez. But read the whole thing to find out why it’s rational to be crazy these days.

I can agree with his complaint about ‘liability insurance’ requirements. I can agree with his observation regarding the pettiness of people complaining about children having good, clean fun. I hear those sorts of complaints all to frequently in Zoning Board of Appeals applications.  But I cannot accept his ignoring the fact that the structure was built on public land without permission.

Which is crazier? That people insist on liability insurance against being beaned with a WIFFLE ball? Or that a professor of law ignores the law?

And You Thought Thinks Couldn’t Get Worse — 3

Sliding down the slippery slope, on tofu with miso sauce.

The PC nazis are off the leash in England. Now toddlers are racists.

Look Who’s Talking

Senator Kerry vs. Senator McCain....

We’re talking rank projection, here.

Hussein’s WMDs

Where are Wilson and Plame now that we REALLY need them?

Interesting report today.

Seems that Hussein’s efforts at achieving nuclear weapons were much more real than Wilson and Plame—along with a lot of others—would like US to believe.

I say, let them eat [yellow]cake. And have done with them. Seems we have 550 metric tons of the ‘flour’ to bake em with. Either that or let them eat ‘crow’.

Paul! You there, buddy?

Is Tom Clancy Prescient or What?

First it was Debt of Honor and 9/11.

Now could it be that someone in Iran read his Executive Orders?

Hope they haven’t read the sequel; Rainbow Six and enlisted the assistance of that idiot academic in Texas.

And You Thought Thinks Couldn’t Get Worse — 2

From the high court to the public schools.

It seems that the public education system in England is taking a lead from their Lord Chief Justice, Lord Phillips. According to this report, they’re indoctrinating the children in the practice of Islam. And if they don’t comply OR they don’t do it correctly, they are punished.

The two boys belong to a class that includes 11- to 12-year-olds, and after their refusal to participate they were given detention, the story says.

Furthermore....

Another parent, Karen Williams, told the Mail: “Not only was it forced upon them, my daughter was told off for not doing it right. They’d never done it before and they were supposed to do it in another language.”

As the saying goes....

...the thought....er...plot thickens.
