For Dawn

Answer to a reply at CBS Denver about Tebow

Here’s the reply I couldn’t post over there. Click on “MORE”.

But don’t necessarily reply here. Let’s keep the discussion out in the open. BUT if you have a lengthy reply, it might have to go here instead of there. We’ll have to play it by ‘ear’.....

For JD, et al.

A very special place for someone with a very special issue.

Someone over at Patterico Pontifications seems to have issues with my very presence on that site and my effort to explain how not only do federal judges suppress the Bill of Rights, but so do bloggers. Not just the so-called ‘liberals’—who are anything BUT—but also a goodly number of so-called ‘conservatives’.

JD and daleyrocks, there, take umbrage with me. At least daleyrocks TRIES to be on topic....more than JD. JD just seems to be jealous....in the extreme. To the point of dropping into the vernacular.

So as to not detract overly much from the topical thread there, I decided to invite the various denizens of that thread here, in order to exercise their various ‘demons’...one way or another....

Let the donnybrook begin.....

Thoughts on Revelation 9 — Part 1

A description of how the ‘locust’ in Revelation 9 match up with the Apache AH64 Attack Helicopter.

In order to describe what I understand of Operation DESERT SHIELD, I provide this....

Let’s get down to Revelation 9 and how it might relate to the Gulf War of 1990-91. In this instance Operation DESERT SHIELD....

The Silent Mensan

Why hath the ‘Mensans’ so silently expressed themselves?

A query posted on the Denver Mensa listserv seems to have generated some interest in going beyond a listserv.....

Mensans, as I have known them for almost 30 years, are—by and large—the most expressive people I’ve even encountered in this 60+ year sojourn. So why do they limit their means of expression?

The Atheist-Islamofascist Union

They have a common ‘enemy’.

Over at Pajamas Media, there’s a ‘discussion’ about the way that atheism and militant Islam have a common enemy. It’s Christianity.

In the discussion someone proved the point. Here is their ‘contribution’....

The Long Year Away

Fun and Games with [Ass]Kissmet....

....or why I couldn’t post on certain web-sites.

Here’s the ‘dope’ on my ‘sabbatical’.

I got crosswise with Charlie (Colorado) Martin over a year ago. It was about his taking some talking-head [Brit Hume] to task over a comment about Buddhism—which Charlie is a practitioner thereof.

I was scoring some valid points in the discussion about Buddhism and Christianity, when Charlie declared—in the discussion—that I was a ‘spammer’. Shortly after that I could no longer post on Pajamas Media. Additionally, I couldn’t post on The Volokh Conspiracy and a couple of other blog-sites. Based on some research, I came to understand that all of these sites relied on an outfit called Kismet to block ‘spammers’. And, based on what I learned that anyone who is aligned with Kismet can make an allegation against someone and they are—apparently without further justification—blocked.

In some private communications, Charlie denied responsibility. However, old Army guy with experience in military intell, I couldn’t help but recognize a correlation between the events. And, considering that Charlie has—in the past—suggested I should be in a mental institution.....well....I suspect he may have been ‘projecting’ a bit.

It’s a technique.

Recently I checked one of the sites on which I was ‘blocked’ and found I could post comments again. So I tried Pajamas Media and apparently the ‘block’ is removed there as well. Not sure as to why, but I’ll not complain. However, I suspect that Kismet has either been (1) discredited or (2) they realized they had a problem just taking people at their word about such allegations and cleaned up their act.

What was the lesson? Well....that even on ‘conservative’ sites—sites that allegedly uphold the freedom of speech—people with intelligent views that go against someone’s grain, even when those views are presented without foul or abusive language, can be suppressed.

I just took it all as reason to be pleased.

Any rate...back in the ‘game’.

Something for Markus….

....HERE, because it can’t seem to post on Charlie (Colorado) Martins thread at Pajamas Media

Once again, the ‘moderation’ of threads at Pajamas Media seems to be ‘interesting’.

I’ve tried about six times over the previous 36 hours to post a comment or two on Charlie (Colorado) Martin’s thread about Brit Hume on Buddhism. All to no avail.

In the meantime, I’ve had no such problems posting comments on Ed Driscoll’s thread about WMD definition flexibility. Coincidence? Charlie would like to think so, but after a while that ‘explanation’ seems to wear a tad ‘thin’.

At any rate, Markus on Charlie’s thread asked an interesting question about God and Hell.

Please explain to me why any soul deserves to be damned to hell, rather than simply being extinguished or punished for a finite period of time.—Markus

I tried to answer it. Here is what I tried to tell him.....

The ‘Disappeared’ for Charlie (Colorado) Martin

Thinks that can’t be said to Charlie....

....on his thread on Pajamas Media.

Tried posting this comment to Charlie over on Pajamas Media.

Tried three times. But NOT ONE of them appeared. However, my complaints about the disappearances appeared. Gotta wonder about the ‘selectiveness’ of the ‘moderation’ and (1) just WHO is doing it and (2) WHY.

At any rate, here’s the copy that would post THERE.....

An ‘Observation’….

....on rank hypocrisy.

Some time back, I used to comment on Amy Alkon’s web-site, i.e., blog. This commenting went on for some time. Then it suddenly stopped. Why? Because she ‘killed’ me. And for what? Disagreeing with her and other commenters on her web-site.

So Amy has had a book published about ‘rude’ people and how she deals with them.

I only found out about it by visiting the blog operated by Dr. Helen Smith, who mentioned the book.

So I commented on my opinion of how Amy deals with ‘rude’ people, i.e., by ‘killing’ them. You can read the thread I See Rude People, HERE.

At any rate, Amy came back at me with a comment. And I promised her a reply to her comment to be published today.

For some ‘strange reason’, I can’t publish my reply at Dr. Helen’s blog.

So....

....I publish it here....

Preparing for Economic ‘Collapse’???!?!

I can think of greater disasters.

There was a discussion up at Dr. Helen’s Web Site.

I got into a discussion with one of the participants there. But for some ‘strange reason’, my comments were being selectively disallowed. I have no idea of what the criteria being used for allowance was, but when I addressed the meat of the issue, my comments would not appear. When I addressed otherwise ‘innocuous’ matters, they would. This was on a web-site offered up by ‘Blogger’.

Well....to make a long story short....I’m offering my reply to br549 HERE.....

It’s That Time of Year!

High School is back in session.....

....and that means Speech Meets will be coming up.

I’ve had a LOT of fun being a ‘critic’, i.e., judge, at such competitions. And I’ve learned a lot too.

One of the things I’ve learned is that there are a lot of intelligent and articulate people coming down the pike, in the form of the next generation. More than I had hoped, based on all the reports of behaving badly we keep getting from the ‘media’. Another thing learned is what the schools are teaching. Some of that is not as good as I had hoped. But that’s another topic.

What I’d like to do here is offer the opportunity to everyone who reads this to join a group of people interested in (1) helping the coming generation, (2) learning about history and current events, (3) humor and drama, (4) logical, civil discussion, (5) possiblly politics and (6) fun.

What does it take? Well. There are requirements. Some are specified. Others are implied. Here are a few:

• An ability to write plainly. The critique sheets require you state your judgment of each contestant.
• An unbiased observation. You need to set aside your political and moral judgments and just listen to what is being said and how it is said in order to evaluate a competition as fairly as possible.
• A stop watch or other timer.
• 3x5 cards with numbers to show the contestant how much time they have remaining.
• Understanding the ‘Rules’. Which can be downloaded from CHSAA’s Speech Web-Site.
• Time to spend on Saturdays and some occasional Fridays. The Fridays come in later in the season for the state championships and national qualifications events.

Events are held all over the state by just about every district. Some driving may be required. For example, if you want to judge an event in Colorado Springs ore the state championships, which frequently occur in northern Colorado. [Note: The location of this year’s state championship is yet to be determined.]

If you enjoy good acting you’ll love the interpretive events of humor and drama.

If you like to follow current events, you’ll get a kick out of extemporaneous speech, which comes in two flavors national and international.

If you like the cut and thrust of a head-to-head competition of wills, you’ll be blown away by debate. REM’s famous It’s the End of the World As We Know It was based on watching a Cross-Examination Competition. The speed at which the verses are sung is indicative of how fast some of the debaters in Cross-X present. But don’t be intimidated. There are also Public Forum and Lincoln-Douglas debate forms as well. But they’re all interesting.

The ‘Progressive’ Form of ‘Debate’

Don’t disagree with them. It makes them ‘crazy’ And they likely will try to ‘kill’ you.

Typical of so-called ‘progressives.

Check out THIS REPORT.....

Disagree with them in an effective manner and they will try to silence you, one way or another. Even to the point of ‘killing’ you. For example, we have....

Christine Taylor, a 34-year-old New Jersey shopper, vowed never to step foot in another Whole Foods again.

I’ve even seen it in this town, where neighbors said they were all for Susan’s run for the state legislature, but they couldn’t contribute any money to her campaign for fear of the retribution from their fellow ‘liberals’.

UPDATE: This business reminds me of ‘shunning’. That old scorning and distancing of someone by those hard-core fundamentalists. Sooooo.....

......does this make ‘progressives’ latter-day ‘puritans’?

When do the witch burnings begin?
